Robert A. Ren

September 23, 1958 — March 24, 2012

Robert A. Ren, age 53, of Dover went to be with his Heavenly Father and to see his earthly father for eternity on Saturday, March 24 ,2012, following an apparent heart attack.

Best known as Bob by his family and friends, he was born at Dover, September 23, 1958, a son of Eileen Dapoz Ren of New Philadelphia, and the late Donald Ren.

A 1977 graduate of Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, Bob was a member of the school’s championship golf team earning top state honors for TCC in 1975, and placing as state runners-up in 1976. Thirty-six years later, this team remains in touch, and continues playing golf.

Following college, Bob joined his father in work at Miracle Adhesives after which he joined Dover Chemical in 1996 where he began as purchasing agent before joining the sales team. He was most recently serving as Sales Manager for Colonial Specialty Chemical of Tabernacle, NJ, a position he has enjoyed since accepting it in 2008.

Bob was an active member in the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, serving as a member of the board of directors for the Cleveland area chapter.

Catholic by faith, Bob attended worship regularly at Winfield United Methodist Church because he always said it was like being with family.

He’ll be remembered for his love of golf and spending time with his family, and was delighted when his two loves came together and he had the opportunity to play golf with his family.

On March 1, 1985, he married the former Judy Korns. The couple recently celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of Dover, include their son Kyle of Columbus and daughter Rachel of Dover.

He’ll be sadly missed by his paternal grandmother Esther Ren of New Phila, his sister, Deb (husband, Jim) Carlisle of New Philadelphia and a large extended family that also includes his Uncle Jack and Martha Dapoz and Uncle Jack and Darlene Ren all of New Philadelphia, his mother-in-law Catherine Meryo of Dover, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ginny and Ed Paris of Dover Barbara Korns of Morehead City, NC, Connie and Frank Miller of Xenia, OH, Becky and Jim Johnson of Massillon, Marcia and Jim Loveday of Dundee, Patti and Lincoln Rutter of Blaine, WA, Dale Korns of Dover, David and Denise Korns of Plain City, OH, Jimmy and Wanda Meryo of Dover, and an uncle in-law, Eugene Maurer of Dundee. Many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews complete the family.

In addition to his father, Mr. Ren is preceded in death by fathers-in-law Robert Korns, and James Meryo.

Friends are invited to call Wednesday, March 28, from 2-4 and from 6-8 in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover where a Christian Wake service will commence at 7:45.

Pastor LuAnn Youngman and Father Jeff Coning will officiate Mr. Ren’s funeral Thursday morning at 10:30 in Winfield United Methodist Church where a luncheon reception will immediately follow.

Private inurnment in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia will follow cremation.

Bob was a giver by nature, always putting others ahead of himself. Even in death, Bob found a way to help others as a tissue donor. The Ren family requests that instead of floral tributes, that you find someone and pay it forward or make a donation to the charity of the donor’s choice.
