Robert A. “Bob” Metz, 64, of New Philadelphia, died Monday morning, January 16, 2006 at Aultman hospital in Canton.A son of the late John and Marion Beard Metz, Bob was born July 31, 1941, in Altoona, Pennsylvania.He spent much of his childhood in Pennsylvania and Cleveland, O. and graduated from Mentor High School in 1960. After High School he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at a radar base in Hofn, Iceland. He was retired from Lowe’s and had also worked at the former Simon-Duplex and the former Joy Manufacturing.Bob will be remembered as a loving and dedicated family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and the other members of “the gang.” He also enjoyed “classic cars” and restoring 1955, 56, and 57 Chevy’s.He is survived by his wife, Judy (Miller) Metz, whom he married September 18, 1964; a daughter, Cindi D. Couts, of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Lauren and Nicholas Clay, all of New Philadelphia and Alexander Couts, of New Philadelphia; brothers, James Metz, of Ft. Mill, S.C., and David Metz, of Lakeland, Fl. In addition to his grandchildren, he will also be missed by the rest of “the gang,” Lexi and Hunter Stein and Cole and Nolan Honecker who affectionately called him “Pappa B.”Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Vicki Clay and a grandson, Logan Clay.Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2006, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 5 p.m. with Pastor Brian Flood officiating. In accordance with his wishes Bob has been cremated and his cremated remains will be inurned at Ridgecrest Memory Garden’s in Dover.Memorial contributions in memory of Bob are suggested to, Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W.
