Rob Walter Hughes, age 42, of Newcomerstown and formerly of Rittman, found rest in the arms of the Lord while in the care of Community Hospice at New Philadelphia on Thursday, July 02, 2015, following an extended illness.
A son of the late Robert F. and Norma J. (Adams) Hughes, Rob was born on October 24, 1972 at Wadsworth, Ohio.
During his career at Rittman High School, Rob enjoyed playing on the school’s football team. He ultimately graduated from Rittman and the Wayne County Career Center where he studied carpentry. Following graduation, Rob attended apprentice school and was accepted into the Akron Local Carpenters Union. For many years he worked as a job superintendent for the Union and in the private sector.
Rob was an avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist, who also enjoyed studying the history of World War II, using his carpentry skills to make furniture, collecting various types of fire arms, and spending time with his beloved Chocolate Lab, Keily.
He is survived by four siblings, Debbie (Russ) Davis of Rittman, Patti Hixenbaugh of Newcomerstown, Kim (Eric) Dunlevy of Dalton and Tom (Stacey) Hughes of Doylestown as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rob was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jerry Hixenbaugh.
The family will greet guests on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Dan Clancy will lead a memorial celebration of Rob’s life in the funeral home’s chapel at 7:00 PM.
