Ricky A. Cross, age 55, of Midvale passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a sudden illness. Born at Dover, December 27, 1953, he was the son of the late Thomas Lee Sr. and Patricia Sue Russell Cross.A 1972 graduate of Indian Valley North High School, Rick went to work in the oil fields and on pipelines for numerous years. Most recently, Rick owned and operated Cross Welding.Rick was a member of the Midvale Lions Club. He had a great appreciation for the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Ricky also enjoyed the beauty of classic and antique cars, owning, restoring and maintaining a few 1957 Chevy’s over the years. He’ll also be remembered as a horse lover. Survivors include his four children; Tonya (husband, Eric) Mangus of Dennison, Brent (wife, Anna) Cross of Tuscarawas, Courtney (husband, Chris) Markley of Dennison, and Kalyn Montgomery of New Philadelphia.He’ll be sadly missed by his five siblings; Thomas “Squeak” Cross of Lake Milton, Nick (wife, Jean) Cross of Barnhill, Dennis Cross Sr. of Leesville, Doug (wife, Robin) Cross of Midvale, and Peb (husband, Brian) Beans of Mineral City; his aunts and uncles, Hap (wife, Betty) Cross of Barnhill, Butch Cross of Barnhill, Carol (husband, Denny) Huston of New Philadelphia, Carol Endlich of Stonecreek, Jim Russell of Tappan Lake, Danny Russell of South Carolina, Larry (wife, Sylvia) Cross of Midvale, and Tom (wife, Pat) Jenkins, of Dover. Four grandchildren; Madison and McKenna Mangus, Cassidy Cross and Rylee Markley and numerous nieces and nephews complete his family.Friends are invited to call Sunday afternoon, September 27, 2009, from 2-5PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Jim Houston will lead the Cross funeral Monday morning at 11 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Following the committal service a meal for family and friends will be served in the Midvale Park Pavilion. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website.
