Richard Zehnder

Richard (Buss) Zehnder 84, of Sugarcreek, passed away July 12, 2003 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late John and Mary Miller Zehnder.Buss was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved sports. His love of nature is reflected in his children’s respect for wildlife and the environment. He kept score for the Garaway basketball teams for 39 years and was also inducted into the Holmes County Athletic Hall of Fame.He worked at Hercules Motors in Canton for 24 years, owned the Western Auto store in Sugarcreek for 16 years and drove school bus for Garaway Schools for 16 years, retiring in 1979.Preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Buss leaves his loving wife of 63 years Ruth, 3 sons; Dr. Koran (Kay) Zehnder, Timothy (Mary Jo) Zehnder and Barry (Janet) Zehnder, daughter Pam (Dr. Steve) Maurer, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and sister Mrs. Carrie Schlegel and also leaves many wonderful friends.Friends may call TODAY (Monday) from 5 to 8 PM at the First United Church of Christ of Sugarcreek, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 15, 2003 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Welton Stein officiating. Interment at Ragersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Garaway Booster Club, Hospice of Tuscarawas County or to First United Church of Christ of Sugarcreek Building Fund.
