Richard Allen “Rick” Wills, age 46, of Uhrichsville, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in his home following a brief illness. A son of Marie V. (Cox) and Nelson Philippi of Uhrichsville and the late Herbert E. Wills, Rick was born at Twin City Hospital at Dennison on March 18, 1964.Rick attended Claymont High School and worked a number of years for Danny Armstrong Construction. He was a skilled carpenter who had been described by his fellow co-workers as an individual who could outwork anybody. He was happiest when he could be out doors; being involved with gardening and tending to his blueberry bushes, hunting and fishing or playing corn-hole with his family and friends.He loved his children and was commended for being a great listener and selfless giver of not only his time but of whatever he could provide to help them be successful in life. When it came to helping not only his family but his friends as well, he aided in the task at hand and if it meant giving the shirt off his back, he would do just that.In addition to his mother and step-father, he is survived by four children; three daughters, Brittany Parrish of Dennison and her fiancé, Steven Sanner, Kadi (Clifford) Sutton of Uhrichsville, Ki Lee of Tippecanoe; a son, Richard “Candler” Wills, of Uhrichsville; siblings, Sue Kerns of Ironton, Jane (Joe) Behari of Hamilton, Tracy Fawcett of Uhrichsville and Kimberly Gatchell and her fiancé, John Weaver of Beach City.Three grandchildren, Aiden, Ry Lee, and Clifford, a special cousin, Emery Cox, whom he thought of as a brother, as well as numerous nieces, nephews; and cousins, complete the family.In addition to his father, Rick was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Ellison.A celebration in honor of Rick’s life will be held on his 47th birthday, from 4:00 â?? 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011, in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Rev. Don Snow will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel at 7:00 p.m. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia, where a meal and fellowship will be shared.
