Richard Meek

Richard E. Meek, 77, of New Philadelphia died on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in Louis Stokes VA Medical Center at Cleveland following a brief illness.

Born at Coshocton, Ohio on September 24, 1940, Rich was the oldest of 12 children born to the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Jones) Meek.

He attended school at Newcomerstown and furthered his education in the United States Army. Rich served as an Avionics Technician during Vietnam and was stationed in Da Nang during his service to our country. He later earned an Associate Degree from Cleveland Institute of Electronics and spent nearly 40 years with the Dover Chemical Corp.

Rich loved electronics and computers and was quite often the go-to guy for IT questions and help. He also held his HAM Radio license and through the years took many Photoshop Classes at Buckeye Career Center. Rich also loved spending time on Facebook and keeping up with family and friends. His gardening, woodworking and cooking skills also were admired by his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Deborah Armstrong, Susan (Troy) Parsons all of New Philadelphia; Heather (Tom) Campbell of Minerva and Shelly (Josh) Barnhart-Clark of Scio; 10 grandchildren, Megan, Molly, and Ethan Armstrong, Troy II (Kourtney), Cory, Zachary (Keri), and Brady Parsons, Emily and Erika Campbell, and Alden Barnhart, and two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Mia Parsons.

Completing the family are his siblings, Tim (Betty) Meek, Willard “Roger” (Dagnia) Meek, Rose Kloha, Mel (Russ) Murphy, Pam (Melvin) Reardon, and Robbie (Ruth) Meek as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rich is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Meek; and siblings, Roland “Ronnie” Meek, Jeffery Meek, Marlene Meredith, and two infant brothers.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 1-4 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Rich’s life will be led by Pastor Jason Snyder on Monday in the funeral home’s chapel at 10 AM. Burial, with military honors, will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A meal and fellowship will follow the services in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
