Richard L. Myers, age 71 of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a sudden illness.A son of the late Melvin Myers and Wilma and Louis Enama, Rich was born on April 24, 1937, at New Philadelphia.Rich was a 1955 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and soon there after, met a young lady by the name of Mildred Baker, who caught his attention while they were attending a function in downtown New Philadelphia. The couple married in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church at Dover on June 26, 1959. Together they reared two sons.For more than twenty years, Rich was employed by Dover Tank and Plate Company, retiring in 1999. For a number of years, he was a familiar face to those who traveled to and toured the Schoenbrunn State Park at New Philadelphia, where he worked as the park’s manager.Rich loved being outdoors and could often be found working outside of his home, where he loved to ride his tractor, and keep a very meticulous looking landscape. Additionally, Rich was a longtime member of Roxford United Methodist Church, where for many years he enjoyed serving as an usher.In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven Myers of New Philadelphia, and Jeffrey Myers of Greensboro, North Carolina; two grandsons, Cameron Myers and Caleb Myers both of Daleville, Virginia; and a brother, Gary (Diane) Enama of New Philadelphia.Two nephews, Taylor Enama and Hunter Enama as well as numerous aunts and uncles complete the family. The family will receive friends today, Friday, April 10, 2009, from 6:00 â?? 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Bob Mathias will lead a service celebrating Rich’s life on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 2:00 PM in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following services, the family would like to invite guests to join them in the Roxford Church Family Life Center, where a meal will be shared.Those unable to attend are invited to send the family personal condolences by visiting the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family requests that memorial contributions in Rich’s name be sent to Roxford United Methodist Church, 771 Roxford Church Road SE, Dennison, Ohio 44621.
