Richard L. Bailey, 87, of New Philadelphia, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 surrounded by his family in the care of the Oak Point Oak Point Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A son of the late Theodore and Lola (Osgood) Bailey, Richard was born June 30, 1929 at Canton, Ohio.
After being discharged from the United States Army, Richard went on to work as a crane operator for I.F. Manufacturing/Rigid Tool for 30 years. He then spent five years as a cabinet maker for Canal Dover Furniture. Richard was also a self-taught carpenter and worked on many homes, as well as building three homes that his family had lived in. He was also a past member of the Church of the Brethren. Richard enjoyed golfing, motorcycles, and riding his tractor, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Treva (Brick) Bailey, whom he married June 26, 1949; two children, Randy (Maria) Bailey and Brenda Bailey; two grandchildren, Jeremy Bailey and Marisa Bailey; a sister Beverly Giauque; nephews, Rick and Ron Bailey and nieces, Bobbi Reed and Cindy Huyghe.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brother, Myron Bailey.
In keeping with Richard’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation care will be handled through the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory.
