Richard Joseph Shalosky

Richard Joseph Shalosky, age 72, of Dover, passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at Union Hospital in Dover. Born in Newcomerstown on June 25, 1937, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Bertha (Bordenkircher) Shalosky. A 1955 graduate of Dennison St. Mary’s High School, Mr. Shalosky was a talented artist and musician. He entered the United States Army in 1958 and served honorably until his discharge in 1961. He later worked as a aircraft mechanic for both Boeing and Douglas Aircraft Corp. and as a welder for Dover Tank and Plate before his many years as a boilermaker. He retired in 2000 from the Boilermaker’s Union Local 744. Survivors include four sons: COL (Ret) Christopher and wife, Katherine Shalosky of Brandon, Florida; Stephen W. and wife, Dianne Shalosky of Austin, Texas; Nicholas Shalosky of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and TSgt Douglas Shalosky of Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma; and four grandchildren: Kristen and Michael Shalosky of Brandon, Florida and Ryan and Scott Shalosky of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by brothers Robert Shalosky of Ludington, Michigan; William and wife, Dalene Shalosky of Coshocton; Donald Shalosky of Tuscarawas; Thomas and wife, Jean Shalosky of Reynoldsburg; Stephen L. and wife, Catherine Shalosky of Dover; sisters Eileen and husband, Michael Somogye of Newcomerstown and Christina and husband Robert Apple of Johnstown, Ohio. Numerous nieces and nephews throughout Ohio and the country complete the family.He is preceded in death by two sisters-in-law â?? Jean Ann (Roth) Shalosky and Betty (Zuchegno) Shalosky and infant sister, Mary Ann Shalosky. Cremation has taken place through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
