Richard A. Haney, age 64, of New Philadelphia passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital after a period of declining health.
Rick was born on June 10, 1958 in Canton, Ohio to the late Harry R. Haney Sr. and Marjorie V. (Mayle) Haney. He was raised on a small farm outside Mineral City. In 1976 he graduated from Tusky Valley High School. Rick was a born again Christian and was baptized at Dover Baptist Temple.
After high school Rick enjoyed traveling and working all over the country finally settling in Dallas, Texas. After several years in Dallas, he came back to Tuscarawas County and met the love of his life and together they raised his only child, Jayson Haney.
Rick was a former member of the New Philadelphia Moose, the Oriole Nest, Eagles, Amvets, and the New Philadelphia VFW. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating and fishing on Atwood Lake and shooting. Due to health reasons Rick retired early from Gradall Industries after working 15 years as a welder. He worked hard, lived fast, and prayed even harder but never had any regrets. Rick always made the good times happen.
Rick is survived by his son, Jayson A. (Jessie) Haney; grandson, Brayden Haney; and best friends, Dave Smith, and Dave Adams.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and best buddy, his loving dog, Bailey
In keeping with Rick’s wishes there will be no services. Cremation care has been entrusted to Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory.
