Richard H. ”dick” Reiss

Richard H. “Dick” Reiss, age 86, of Dover, passed away December 14, 2010 in Union Hospital at Dover.Born on November 7, 1924 in Dennison, O., he was the son of the late Henry J. and Helen Irene (Peoples) Reiss.After graduating from Uhrichsville High School, Dick joined the United States Navy where he honorably served his country.Dick spent much of his professional career working at federal credit unions. In 1953, he began working in the accounting department for The Warner & Swasey Employees Federal Credit Union employees of the Gradall Division. On 1956, he was promoted as the credit union’s first manager. Dick ultimately retired from Western & Southern Life Insurance Co. in Dover. Dick was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia for more than 50 years.He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine V. (Nash) Reiss of Dover; his step-son, Larry (Elizabeth) Fulton of Dover; two step-grandsons, Aaron (Heather) Fulton and Adam (Wynonna) Fulton, both of New Philadelphia; step-great-grandchildren, Garron Fawcett and Tanner Fulton; his sister, Paula (Roger) Jones of Centerville, O.; his niece and nephew, Susan Jones of Centerville and Michael (Amy) Jones of Toledo; and his dear friend, Logan Dutton of Florida.Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m. A service celebrating his life will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Sowers officiating. Memorial contributions in Dick’s memory may be directed to either Broadway United Methodist Church, 120 Church Ave. SE, New Philadelphia, O. 44663 or Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
