Richard G. “R.G”. Arvin Jr. 58, of New Philadelphia, Ohio and formerly of Hagerstown, Maryland, died Wednesday, September 16, 2020 in Community Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia following a lengthy battle with cancer.
A son of the late Richard G. and Carman I. (Ruffino) Arvin, R.G. was born September 11, 1962 at Baltimore, Maryland.
R.G. was formerly employed by his father at Glenn’s Tavern at Funkstown for many years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and he enjoyed watching football, especially his favorite team, the New York Giants, as well as watching NASCAR. R.G. also enjoyed building model cars.
He is survived by his children, Richard G. Arvin III and Tara (fiancé, Jason Myers) Singleton both of Hagerstown; seven grandchildren; his siblings, Michele (David) Maxwell of South Carolina, Tina (Randy) Rhoton of Funkstown, Cynthia (George) Harvey of Hagerstown, Gina (fiancé, Bruce Graham) Howard of New Philadelphia and John (Rayetta) Arvin of Hagerstown; a niece, Jessica Domer who cared for R.G. during his illness as well as many other nieces and nephews.
In keeping with R.G.’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A celebration of R.G.’s life will be held at a later date in Funkstown, Maryland.
