Richard ”dick” Brady McElravy

Richard Brady McElravy, age 73, of Dennison, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, in Akron General Hospital.A son of the late Brady and Florence Wolfe McElravy, Dick, as he was known by family and friends was born at Pine Township, Pennsylvania on June 1, 1937.He attended school at Tidal, Pennsylvania and enlisted into the United States Air Force. Following his discharge from the service, Dick married the former Marlis Kline and together the couple had one son.Dick’s spent many years as an independent owner-operator truck driver. He was an avid fisherman, who also enjoyed caring for his lawn, and supporting the Cleveland Browns and Indians, although they often let him down.He is survived by his son, Mike McElravy of Gambrills, Maryland; a brother, Robert McElravy; a sister, Julia (husband, Leroy) Himes, all of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, a granddaughter, Kristen McElravy and two grandsons, Aaron McElravy and Shawn McElravy all of Maryland.In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Marlis, who died on May 26, 2005; a brother, Raymond McElravy and a sister-in-law, Keitha McElravy.In keeping with Dick’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation has been cared for by Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover. Private burial next to his wife is planned in the Tidal Cemetery at Pennsylvania.Dick believed in supporting community causes, in doing so, the family requests that memorial contributions in his name be directed to, The Rainbow Connection, 123 South Wooster Avenue, Dover, Ohio 44622, where he annually donated funds in memory of his late wife.
