Richard “Dick” Clyde Robinson, age 66, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in his home surrounded by his family.Born May 13, 1941, at Gnadenhutten, he is the son of Elsie (Kohler) Robinson of Tuscarawas and the late Richard Robinson.After graduating from Tuscarawas-Warwick High School, he continued his formal education at Kent State University. Dick began his career with the former Warner & Swasey. In 1969 he joined Union Hospital at Dover where he served as the hospital’s Vice President of Fiscal Services for 30 years before retiring, but he never tired of sharing his knowledge and serving the medical community. After retirement, he became a trusted consultant for area physicians in helping them establish private medical practices. At the time of his death, he was consulting with Moore & Neidenthal Certified Public Accountants at Dover. Dick was a lifetime member of the New Philadelphia Lodge # 510 of the B.P.O. Elks and regularly attended the Broadway United Methodist Church at New Philadelphia.Dick was a staunch supporter of his children and grandchildren, never missing an activity they participated in. A talented athlete as a young man, Dick shared his enthusiasm for sports by spending time at the ball fields with his family. He also shared his love of nature with them while on outdoor hikes, fishing trips, or on the golf course.On August 12, 1983, Dick married his loving wife, the former Frankie Carolyn Dunn of New Philadelphia. He will also be sadly missed by his daughters, Carol Withem and Beth (Tracy) Tedrow, both of New Philadelphia and Jay Robinson of Port Orange, Florida; two sons, Chad (Christine) Houze of New Philadelphia and Shawn (Tracy) Houze of Dover; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nick Withem, Ethan and Zachary Houze, and Jarod and Hannah Houze; siblings, Donna Demuth, Judy (Wallace “Red”) Gould, Robert Robinson, Dixie (Rich) Dunn, Sharon (Dan) Kalp, Tim (Carla) Robinson, Debbie (Mac) Maher, and Randy Robinson.In addition to his father, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, George and an infant sister, Brenda.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Pastor William Sowers will lead a service celebrating Dick’s life Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends and family are invited to the Geib Hospitality Center, 5600 N. Wooster Ave. in Dover, where a meal will be served following the graveside service.
