Richard Allen “Dick” Ferris, 70, of New Philadelphia, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, March 24, 2008 at his home.A son of the late Roy Ferris and the late Edna (Coulter) Beatty, Dick was born January 7, 1938 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.Dick lived his entire life in the area and he was employed by Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He retired in 1992 after 40 years of dedicated service.He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, but especially by his surviving family members which include his loving wife of 51 years, Beverly (Wagner) Ferris; a son, Richard (Lois) Ferris of Delaware, Ohio; a daughter, Sandy (Lee) Anderson of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Cory, Lachelle, Justin, Janelle, Justin, Cory, Heather, Rachel; one great grandchild, Cameron and two sisters, Nedra (Bill) Welfley and Charlyn (Kim) Menapace both of New Philadelphia.Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his step father, Charles Beatty and an infant brother, John.In keeping with Dick’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services and cremation will take place under the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.Those wishing to do so may send the family a personal condolence and view an online memorial by visiting the funeral home website.The family suggests that contributions be made in Dick’s memory to the Salvation Army, 301 North Wooster Avenue, Dover, OH 44622.Linn-Hert-Geib330-343-5506www.geibcares.com
