Reverend Gary L. Hogue, 65, of Strasburg, went to be with God Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Union Hospital at Dover following a 27 month battle with cancer and a 30 year battle with MS.
A son of the late Paul and Ruby (Reichman) Hogue, Gary was born October 15, 1952 in Mercy Hospital at Canton, Ohio.
Gary served his country for four years as a member of the US Air Force and spent 18 years as a volunteer fire fighter. Hewas a Master Mason for seven years and a member of the Carpenters Local 619. He proudly built his own home as well. But his passion was his family whom he revolved his life around.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Misty (Gatten) Hogue; his five children, James ( fiancé Amanda Auman) Hogue, Kendra Hogue, Kevin Hogue, Kimberly (Keith) Avon, and Keith Hogue; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers Phillip (Wendy) Hogue and Parker (Theresa) Hogue; and mother-in-law Ethel Gatten. He is also survived by his dogs, Sierra, Athala, Ayla, Arianna and Trixie.
Gary has been preceded in death by both of his parents; his sister, Pam Patrick and father-in-law James Gatten.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 12 noon to 1 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with services to follow at 1 PM in the funeral home’s chapel with Pastor Jason Humble officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg.
