Reta Pauline Harrison

Reta Pauline Harrison, age 96, of Park Village Health Care Center at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia died Friday, June 17, 2011.A daughter of the late Gilbert and Minnie A. Helmreich Endlich, Reta was born on November 6, 1914, at Stone Creek, Ohio. She was a graduate of the former Stone Creek High School and married Emmett T. Harrison on August 16, 1941. Together the couple reared one son and shared in 60 years of marriage prior to Emmett’s passing on October 16, 2001.Reta was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at New Philadelphia where she was the past president of the L.C.W. ladies fellowship, and had served as a Sunday school teacher. Additionally, Reta was active with Royal Neighbors of America and the Women’s Relief Corps.In addition to her church and civic activities, Reta enjoyed watching television, playing cards, entertaining the neighborhood children as well as her own grandchildren and visiting with her family.Reta leaves behind her family, a son, Ted L. (Debbie) Harrison of Dellroy; two grandchildren, Ted (Tammy) Harrison of Port Washington, and Amy (Dan) Schaad of New Philadelphia; and two brothers, Walter Endlich of Newcomerstown and Paul Endlich of East Sparta.Six great-grandchildren, Kali, Kassi, Kylee, Pierce, Preston, and Cayden and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to her parents and husband, Reta was preceded in death by a sister, three brothers, and a great-grandson, Nathan.The family will receive friends on Sunday, June, 19, 2011, from 1:00 Â? 3:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where a church council service will be held at 2:45 PM. Reverend Stephen L. Patrick will lead a service celebrating Reta’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, June 20, 2011, at 10:30 AM. Burial alongside her husband will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. Following services, the family wishes to invite guests to join them in the Fellowship Hall of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where a meal will be shared.The family requests that memorial contributions in Reta’s name be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 202 East High Avenue, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
