Rena Joyce Fawcett

Rena Joyce Fawcett, 68, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, May 26, 2012 at her home.

A daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Jones) McPeek, Rena was born February 24, 1944 at Uhrichsville, Ohio. Rena graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1962.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Rena was a quiet individual but had a dry sense of humor, a trait she passed on to her children.

Rena had a very caring and generous personality often donating to various area fundraisers. She also enjoyed shopping and the company of her faithful companion, her dog, Missy.

She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Don) Hawk and Mike (Cathy) Smith both of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Ian Hawk of Columbus and Ashley (Brian) Vorhees, Megan Smith and Isabelle Smith all of New Philadelphia; a sister, Denise Bloom-Keffer of Uhrichsville; a brother, Herb McPeek of Dennison and an uncle, Ronnie McPeek of Tuscarawas.

Rena was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Pauline Plunkett.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 31, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Rena’s life will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Steven Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Dover Burial Park. Following the committal service, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.
