Rena Jean Haney, age 84, of Hennis Care Center at Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 02, 2015, in Union Hospital at Dover.
Born at Sayersville, Kentucky on November 16, 1930, Rena is a daughter of the late Dale and Nora (Sizemore) Patrick.
On June 17, 1950, Rena married Harold Haney and together the couple raised four children and shared in 58 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 7, 2009.
Rena enjoyed her work at Sparta Ceramic and the former Valley Manor Nursing Home. When not caring for her family or spending time with her grandchildren, she could be found visiting with friends and neighbors, enjoying a good joke, working in the flower gardens that surrounded her home, or spending time in her kitchen, cooking. When she moved to Hennis, Rena found joy in playing cards with many of her longtime friends and attending church services with the other residents.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (Bill) Benjamin of Dover, Rod (Debbie) Haney of Beach City and and Beckie (Jack) Haakinson of New Philadelphia; sisters, Virginia Fowler of Zoarville, and Vonitta Sampsel of Mineral City; brothers, Wiley Patrick and Jimmy Dale Patrick both of Leavittsville, Ohio.
Completing the family are 11 grandchildren, Michael and Justin Benjamin, Katie, Jesse, Danielle, and Kellie Haney, Shonedell Haney-Bair, Jason and Erin Haney, James and Nicole Haakinson; seven great-grandchildren, Jayden, Emma, Donovan, Devon, Alaina, Tiffany, and Rodney as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rena is preceded in death by a son, Dannie Haney; sisters, Dolly Mae Price, Anita Patrick, Lena Courim, Louise Fantin; and a brother, Wishard Patrick.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 5, 2015, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastors John Dunn and Virginia Fowler will lead a service celebrating Rena’s life on Monday at 11:00 AM.
