Rebecca Sue Andreas Baker, age 50, of Winfield, passed away suddenly early Saturday afternoon, October 20, 2012, following a brief battle with Hepatitis.
Born at Dover, August 13, 1962, she is the daughter of Jane Miller Andreas of Strasburg, and Robert Andreas of Dover.
Best known as Becky to her family and friends, she was a 1980 graduate of Strasburg High School, and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Business from Kent State University in 1982.
A talented artist in any ways, she was a well-known floral designer for the former Endres Floral Company, later working in the floral department at Buehlers’ Parkside for more than a decade, and ultimately the All Occasions Floral Shop of Massillon.
Becky was equally talented when painting local scenes on canvas, Christmas ornaments, large wall murals, and even mailboxes.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, husband, and extended family. In her quiet time, she enjoyed cooking and reading, and re-connecting with nature. Becky was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ at Strasburg.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Roland “Baldy” Baker, Jr. of Winfield, and her three children; Tory, Lianna, and Mitchell Aeling of the home.
She’ll be sadly missed by her brother, William Andreas of Uhrichsville, her step-father, Alvin Lester of Strasburg, a step-sister, Susan (Jeff) Burton of Somerdale, step-brothers; Ron (Gloria) Lester of Bolivar, and David (Audra) Lester of Griffin, Georgia.
A mother-in-law, Gladys Baker of Strasburg, sister-in-law, Bonnie (Jim) Hendershot, also of Strasburg, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, nieces and nephews, complete the family.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday, October 23, from 2-4 and from 6-8 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover.
Pastor Gary Friend will lead a memorial service for Becky Wednesday morning at 11 AM in St. John’s United Church of Christ at Strasburg where a luncheon will follow in the church social hall.
Cremation is planned, and a private family service of committal will follow at a later date. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family and light a candle on Becky’s permanent memorial on the funeral home’s website.
Contributions may be made to the Benefit Fund for Rebecca Andreas in care of the Citizens Bank of Strasburg, 202 North Wooster Avenue, Strasburg, OH 44680.
