Raymond S. Myers, 83, of Louisville, Ohio and formerly of New Philadelphia, died July 24, 2005 at Aultman Hospital in Canton.A son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Ricklic) Myers, Raymond was born August 27, 1921 in Roswell, Ohio.Following his graduation from Midvale High School in 1940, he joined the United States Army. He served in the 83rd Infantry as a Technical Sergeant during World War II and he also took part in the Battle of the Bulge.Raymond was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he married the former Janice Besozzi on October 12, 1946. He then retired from Warner & Swasey in 1983.He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janice I. (Besozzi) Myers; three children, Joseph (Gayle) Myers of Jackson Township, Ohio, Gary (Shirley) Myers of Jacksonville, Florida and Kathy (Jim) Kelly of Louisville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jennifer Myers, Josh Myers, Nikko Myers, Maitlin Myers, Matthew Kelly and Michael Kelly; and two sisters, Lillian Dutton and Margaret Kornish both of Sherrodsville, Ohio.Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Myers.Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2005, from 5-8 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia with a Christian Wake service being held at 7:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia with Monsignor George Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia V.F.W Post #1445 will performe military honors. A luncheon will then be held following the committal service at the Geib Family Center in New Philadelphia.The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Raymond’s name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
