Raymond Lee Early

June 16, 1927 — December 31, 2004

Raymond “Ramie” Lee Early, 77, of Canton, and formerly of Newcomerstown, died December 31, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.

A son of the late Frank F. and Bessie M. (Deichler) Early, Raymond was born June 16, 1927 in Newcomerstown, Ohio.

While residing locally, Raymond was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia. After moving to Canton he attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Canton. After graduating from Newcomerstown High School in 1945, he enlisted with the United States Army until he received an honorable discharge in 1949. Raymond was formerly employed by Weigands in Dover and then retired from Boron GMC in Canton. He was also a member of the Newcomerstown American Legion.

He is survived by one daughter, Pamela (Rodger) Bartlett of Louisville, Ohio; one son, Gregg Early of Canton, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Campbell of Alliance and Dustin Bartlett of Louisville; and one sister Mabel Casteel of Newcomerstown, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia, who passed away in 1999; one son, Lewis Early, who passed away in 1955; and three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 from 5 to 8 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory in New Philadelphia with Christian Wake Services being held at 7:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia with Msgr. George Schlegel officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia where military honors will be observed.
