Raymond L. Beavers

January 23, 1940 — September 15, 2015

Raymond Lee Beavers, 75, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover following a period of declining health.

A son of the late John and Ila (Calhoun) Beavers, Raymond was born January 23, 1940 at Dillonvale, Ohio.

Raymond was a member of the 1958 graduating class at New Philadelphia High School. He was then drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.

On January 25, 1969, Raymond married the love of his life, the former Marcia Snyder. Together the couple raised three daughters, Valerie, Sheila and Amy.

Early on in his career he was employed at Marlite for more than 23 years and eventually retired from Lauren Manufacturing after 12 years of service. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union, the United Paperworkers Union, the First Church of the Nazarene at New Philadelphia and the New Philadelphia V.F.W. Post #1445.

He was known to family and friends as being quite the handy man. He could repair anything around the home and especially enjoyed mechanical work on cars and trucks. He enjoyed riding and working on motorcycles as well. Raymond also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and Country Western music. Most of all he cherished the time spent with and caring for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marcia Beavers, his daughters, Valerie Milburn of New Philadelphia, Sheila (Kirt) Jackson of Uhrichsville and Amy Beavers of New Philadelphia; his identical twin grandsons, Ethan and Evan Jackson of Uhrichsville; his brothers, Charles (Geraldine) Beavers of Carrollton and Ernest Beavers and James (Lela) Beavers both of New Philadelphia; a sister, Lucille Bucher of New Philadelphia; two brothers-in-law, Robert and Gary Snyder both of Uhrichsville; a sister-in-law, Ethel Beavers of Dover and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Kathryn Robinson and her husband, Herbert and Dolores Robinson and her husband, Elvin; a brother-in-law, Robert Bucher; a sister-in-law, Linda Stokey Beavers; a nephew, James Short and a niece, Cheryl Fish.

In keeping with Raymond’s wishes cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia with private family services being held.
