Raymond Ellsworth Brown Jr, 64, of Tuscarawas, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in Country Club Retirement Campus at Dover. A son of the late Raymond Ellsworth Brown Sr. and Ruth Murray Brown, Ray was born September 30, 1944 in his childhood home at Dennison, Ohio.On April 23, 1967, Ray married the former Nancy McBeth and together the couple reared three children, Brenda, Tammy and Ray. Ray enjoyed working various jobs over the years. He had a passion for his C.B. Radio which allowed him to keep in close touch with friends. Ray was also a creative wood worker and he shared many of his creations with family and friends. Most of all, he loved his loyal companion, his dog, Thaddeus. Ray cherished the time spent with Thaddeus.He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Brown of the home; his children, Brenda (Michael) Souza of Bayview, Texas, Tammy Scott of Uhrichsville and Ray A. Brown of Tuscarawas; eight grandchildren, Kory Souza, Brooke, Alexis and Nicholas Scott, Ray Allen, Wyatt and Jasmine Brown and CiCi Garcia; three sisters, Gladys, Norma and Sue; and a brother, Charles.Ray was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Bryan O. Scott.Friends may call on Saturday, April 4, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A service celebrating Ray’s life will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Rod Phillips officiating. In keeping with Ray’s wishes, cremation will take place following the services.Contributions may be made in Ray’s memory to the American Lung Association, 6100 Rockside Woods Parkway, Independence, OH 44131.
