Raymond D. Tidrick

Raymond D. Tidrick, age 85, of Midvale, died peacefully Monday afternoon, February 4, 2008, in Country Club Retirement Center at Dover. Born at Midvale, September 5, 1922, Raymond was a son of the late William and Margaret Ickes Tidrick. Ray graduated from Midvale High School and promptly entered the United States Army. He was discharged honorably in 1946, having served during World War II. For the remainder of his life he would maintain memberships with the Midvale VFW, the Army-Navy Club at Uhrichsville, and the former New Philadelphia Moose Lodge. Following discharge from the Army, Raymond became affiliated with the Evans Brick Company, where he worked as a hy-lift operator for more than thirty-four years before retiring from the company in the 1980’s.Raymond leaves behind his wife of sixty-five years, the former Sarah “Sally” Jones, of Midvale. The couple wed March 28, 1942. A sister, Betty Hilliard of Midvale, and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great nieces and great-great nephews complete the family. In addition to his parents, Raymond is preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Edwards and by four brothers, William, Robert, Willard “Mose” and John Tidrick. Pastor Dale Ickes will lead the Tidrick Funeral Thursday afternoon at 2PM in the Chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. The family will receive friends there one hour prior to the service. Members of the Midvale V.F.W. Post 9620 will render military honors at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens as part of the committal service.
