Raymond D. Renicker, age 78, of Dover, died Monday, February 15, 2010, in Hennis Care Center at Dover following a brief illness.A son of the late Clarence Renicker and Marie Albaugh Renicker-Copeland, Ray was born at Bowerston, Ohio on April 9, 1931.Ray was a 1949 graduate of the former Bowerston High School and would go on to serve as a member of the United States Army, where he would work as an MP during the Korean War.For more than thirty years Ray served the local banking community through his affiliation with the former Reeves Bank which later became Huntington National Bank. For many years during his career Ray worked at the James-Fillmore location as the bank’s branch manager.As a musician, Ray enjoyed playing the piano and his Hammond Organ. Additionally, Ray found great joy in his outings to play bingo and visit Wheeling Island.Ray leaves behind a family that includes a daughter, Vicki (Duane) Winkler of New Philadelphia; a son, Jeffrey Renicker formerly of Strasburg, a former wife, Edith Renicker of Dover; a sister, Dorothy Custer of Bowerston; a half brother, Dave (Trish) Copeland of Scio and a sister-in-law, Donna Renicker of Newark.Two granddaughters, Shannon (Steve) Dunfee of Shreve and Darcie Winkler of New Philadelphia as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his step-father, George Copeland and a brother, Floyd Renicker. In keeping with Ray’s wishes there will be no public visitation or services. Cremation will be conducted through the care of Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.The family requests that memorial contributions in Ray’s name be directed to either Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 W 3rd Street, Dover Ohio 44622 or to the American Cancer Society, 525 North Broad Street, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
