Raymond L. Brinkman, 79, of Bolivar, passed away peacefully, in his home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Cumberland, Maryland, Raymond was the son of the late Jim and Evelyn V. (Moore) Shoemaker and following his graduation from high school, proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge, Raymond began a long career as a Self-Employed Truck Driver, hauling cars all over the United States. He loved being on the road and seeing this great country. He transported vehicles to every state except for Alaska and Hawaii and eventually retired from driving in 2016.
Raymond attended Shepler Country Chapel at Navarre and possessed a great sense of humor. He would constantly have something funny to say that would always make people smile and laugh.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Marcia A. (Mason) Brinkman; their five children, Rhonda Grissinger, Larry (Robbee) Wheeler; Raelyn (Steve) Rowe, Lisa Fanning and Robin (Bryan) Davis and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Rowe.
In keeping with his wishes, Raymond is to be cremated through the care of the Geib Funeral Center at Dover and his family will host a celebration of Raymond’s life at a later time.
The family requests that memorial contributions, in Raymond’s memory, be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas, 66675-8516.
