Ray Riffee Lindimore, age 90, of New Philadelphia, died Friday, May 3, 2024, in his residence following a period of declining health.
Ray was born on May 12, 1933, in Penn Township in Morgan County, Ohio. He was a son of the late Albert Oscar and Eva Josephine Riffee Lindimore.
Ray was a 1951 graduate of Pennsville High School and served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War and following his honorable discharge served as a member of the National Guard.
He was a 42-year employee of American Electric Power where he worked as a Substation Mechanic. His career began in Morgan County and in 1960 was relocated to New Philadelphia. Ray was a member of the Carl C. Stoller Post 1445 of the New Philadelphia VFW, and the New Philadelphia Am-Vets. He was an active life member of the Tusco Amateur Radio Club. As a Ham Operator Ray held the call letters K8ZJG for more than 60 years. He was a past member of the Buckeye Bacon Burners and enjoyed spending time camping and traveling in his RV. Additionally, Ray was a longtime member of the First Christian Church at New Philadelphia.
On May 1, 1953, Ray married N. Joann Hall and together the couple have spent the last 71 years building a family that includes their children, Connie Ferrell, Terry (Sherry Woods) Lindimore, Rhonda Whitman all of New Philadelphia, and Chuck (Terrie) Lindimore of Canton; four grandchildren, David Greco, Julie Cox, Daniel Lindimore, and Bryan (Miranda) Lindimore. Completing the family are numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a grandson, James Ferrell, II, and his siblings, Warne Lindimore, Charles Lindimore, and Mary Lou Schrock.
The family will greet guests on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A graveside service with military honors provided by the New Philadelphia VFW, will be held in the Dover Burial Park on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 1:30 PM.
