Randall Meese

January 16, 1953 — September 19, 2018

Randall L. Meese, 65, of Dover was born ornery on January 16, 1953 and was ornery until the day he passed away on September 19, 2018 fighting Esophageal Cancer. He was surrounded by his family as his life in heaven with his heavenly Savior began.

How do you write an obituary for a man like Randy Meese? Here’s some of the basics.

Survived by the love of his life for 42 years, Cheryl Meese, daughters Danielle (John) Dupke, Autumn (Matt) Mastroine and son Christian (Deborah) Meese. His mother, Carroll Meese, brothers Elmer (Becky) Meese of North Carolina, Terry Meese of New Philadelphia and sisters, Robin (Gary) Tumbling of Georgia and Amber (Ted) Ricker of New Philadelphia. His grandchildren Isaac , Micaiah and Isaiah Stemple, Jay Dupke, Jacob and Caleb Mastroine, Maylene and Solera Meese and numerous nieces and nephews. His father and mother in law Don and Fauneil Meredith loved Randy like their own son. Preceded in death by his father, Elmer Meese.

Randy was a friend to everybody he met and had many great friends who were an encouragement to him in his life. He was constantly telling jokes, pulling pranks and making others laugh. Even while doing his chemo treatments and icu visits he became a favorite because his sense of humor made everyone smile. He loved fishing with his family and the beach. He always made family vacations important and made sure each one was epic! He loved palm trees and listening to a good storm while sitting with his wife.

First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia is where they grew in the Lord and where he taught Sunday school, cooked for the church events and had been on mission trips to India, Russia, China and the Philippines. He graduated from the Shepard’s School of Ministry in 2003. He has impacted so many lives while he was here on earth.

There’s so much about Randy that will be missed. His smile and the mischievous twinkle that was always in his eyes are some of our favorites. It never mattered how busy he was, if you needed his time he freely gave it away. Randy made the world better by being in it. To continue his legacy of love and laughter, may we follow the example he set. Be kind, give away your time to those in need. Show your smiles without judgement, live for your family, enjoy the blessings God has given and laugh.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 2 to 5 PM in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover. A funeral service celebrating Randy’s life will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Rich VanArsdalen officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
