Ralph L. Anderson

Ralph L. Anderson, age 76, of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, January 8, 2015, in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health.

Born at Sandyville, Ohio on May 8, 1938, Ralph was a son of the late Ivan and Nellie (Sterling) Anderson.

He grew up on the family farm at Sherrodsville and was a 1957 graduate of Conotton Valley High School. Following graduation, he served for six years as a member of the National Guard. Professionally, Ralph worked for 55 years as an owner/operator truck driver.

In his free time, Ralph enjoyed sharing life stories, listening to Country Music, fishing, camping, and boating at Saltfork. He also loved attending his grandchildren’s school activities and watching the wildlife around his home. Ralph also had a deep passion for pets and cared for many dogs through the years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Patricia Fetters, whom he married on December 8, 1957; his children, Ralph “Randy” Anderson of Canton, Dennis (Dawn) Anderson of New Philadelphia, Rick Anderson of Columbus, and Tammy (Gary) McLaughlin of New Philadelphia; a good friend, Joe Jardine of Columbus; a brother, Ivan Harold (Dorothy) Anderson of East Sparta; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

The family will greet guests on Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Lee Randolph will lead a service in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 1:30 PM. Immediately following the service; all are invited to share in a meal and fellowship in the Goshen Community Church of the Nazarene, 2501 Davis Road SE, New Philadelphia.
