Ralph E. Billiter, Sr., age 64 of New Philadelphia died Wednesday, September 08, 2010, in Union Hospital at Dover following a hard fought battle with cancer. A son of Fred Billiter, Sr. of Strasburg and the late Florence Kautz Billiter, Ralph was born at New Martinsville, West Virginia on September 29, 1945.Ralph attended Strasburg-Franklin High School and began working as a skilled laborer for a number of area factories. For more than a decade Ralph was employed by Strasburg Provision as a meat cutter prior to his retirement.Having many passions in life, Ralph enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bicycling, watching Western movies, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.Ralph’s sense of humor and lively spirit will be missed by his children; two daughters, Tina Billiter, and Karen Billiter and her companion, Jesse Campbell; a son, Keith Billiter, and Ralph’s former wife and good friend, Shirley Billiter all of New Philadelphia.Three sisters, Rita (Mark) Rothacher, Elda Hadorn, Nancy (Wayne) O’Brien; four brothers, Fred Billiter, Jr., George (Judy) Billiter, Sr., Roger (Lynn) Billiter, and Ralph’s twin, Russell Billiter, Sr., and his companion, Delilah; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Tristan, and Douglas, as well a numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.In addition to his mother, Ralph was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Billiter, Jr. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 13, 2010, from 4 to 5 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Andy McClung will lead a memorial service celebrating Ralph’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Monday at 5 PM. Following services, the family would like to invite guests to join them in the social hall of the Community Baptist Church at Dover where a meal and fellowship will be shared.
