Rachel Mae Sanders

Rachel Mae Sanders, age 83, of Uhrichsville, died peacefully, Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in her residence following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late James C. and Mary B. (Decker) Tidrick, Rachel was born at Tippecanoe, Ohio on July 10, 1929.

On July 28, 1947, at Greenup, Kentucky, Rachel married William S. Sanders Sr. who preceded her in death in 1978.

She attended Mount Carmel Church at Tippecanoe and enjoyed being surrounded by her family, fishing, playing Bingo and watching Wednesday bowling leagues at Alpa Lanes.

Survivors include a large and extended family of four daughters, Dottie (David) Horsfall of Gnadenhutten, Belinda (Dale) Barker, Goldie (Jim) Gatts all of Uhrichsville, and Marie Smith of Dover; three sons, Archie (Olive) Sanders of Uhrichsville, DeVer (Bernice) Sanders of Dennison, and Thomas (Janice) Sanders of Montgomery, Minnesota; a brother, Joseph Tidrick of Tippecanoe and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Moss of Strasburg.

Completing the family are more than 40 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special friends, Jim Barker and Kenny Sundheimer.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was preceded in death by her step-mother, Irene Tidrick; a daughter, Helen Elerick-Smith; four sons, William “Billy” Sanders, Fred Sanders, Robert Moss and Marvin Sanders; six grandchildren, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna and Walter Doane, Andessa and Charles Gadd; and a brother and sister-in-law, James “Babe” and Margaret Tidrick as well as numerous daughters and sons-in-law.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 4:00 -7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Brian Flood will lead a funeral service celebrating Rachel’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Burial alongside her husband will follow in the West Union Cemetery at Gilmore, Ohio.

Memorial contributions in Rachel’s name may be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 716 Commercial Avenue SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.
