To God be the Glory. Today I announce that my dear wife, R. Lynn Story, age 68, went home to be with the Lord in her home after a period of declining health.
Lynn attended NewPointe Community Church in Dover, Ohio. Lynn was born in Big Springs, Texas, spent most of her adult years in Ravenna, Ohio, and has spent the last 22 years on our property in Port Washington, Ohio.
Lynn was the love of my life and the best, most caring wife I could ever imagine. We have spent the last 24 years enjoying life, raising our grandson, David, and traveling in our RV. Lynn truly loved Glamping in our RV from Maine to Myrtle Beach, Pocono’s to Smoky Mountains and the campgrounds of Ohio. She never let her disabilities stop us from doing the things she enjoyed. She was a master crocheter and left behind many beautiful pieces. Lynn also loved rescuing, raising and caring for our furry babies. She remembers our special furry family members, Simon, Henry, Brice and Stanley that preceded her and our current furry baby, Charlie. Lynn also loved watching her French Chateau renovations of Chateau de Lalande, Chateau de Lalacelle, Chateau de Colombe and Chateau de Chaumont.
Lynn worked as a machine shop operator in Akron, Ohio, kindergarten teacher in Ravenna, Ohio, and in Marketing at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas before retiring in 2003 due to Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1A.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Ted; sons, Keith Visher of Ravenna and Kyle (Jessica) Visher of Diamond; step-son, Ted (Rachel) Story, III of Youngstown; step-daughter, JoAnn (Phillip) Sheperd of Osage City, Kansas; granddaughter, Courtney (Corey) Shirey of Ravenna; grandsons, Brandon Visher of Ravenna, David Visher of Rochester, New York, and Leland Sheperd of Osage City, Kansas; great-granddaughter, Jade Aria Rose Visher of Rochester, New York; siblings, Rick Saum of Garden City, SC, Stephen (Christine) Saum of Cambridge, Saundra Saum of South Carolina, Connie (Doug) Hoover of Carrollton, Kay Ann Saum of Newcomerstown. Lynn left behind many loved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Lynn is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Richard Saum; her mother, Janet D. (Linkous) Saum; and her son, Kevin Visher.
The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to The Muscular Dystrophy Association at mda.org or Small Paws Rescue at smallpawsrescue.org.
