Phyllis C. O’ Saben, age 68, Dover, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away unexpectedly in her home Wednesday evening, February 18, 2009.Born in Texas on December 10, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Hillis and Elnora (Gessel) Dillon. After completing her formal education, she began her professional career most recently working for the Saint Ann’s public relations department in Columbus, Ohio where she retired in 1996. After retiring, Phyllis and her husband, Gene, did extensive volunteer work in Deersville, Ohio and later in Dover. While they resided in Deersville, Phyllis was a member of the Deersville Village Council, the Deersville Theater and the Deersville Improvement and Preservation Society. She was also a member of the Freeport reading group. After relocating to Dover, Phyllis became involved in the Friends of the Library at Dover Public Library, the Reeves Historical Society, the Dover Gardening Club, and the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts.Although she was an active volunteer in retirement, she was most passionate about spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She always enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in their activities and creating memories with them. Phyllis also devoted much of her time to gardening, reading, and oil painting. In addition to her loving and devoted husband and friend of 27 years, Gene, Phyllis will be deeply missed by her family which includes her children, Teresa (husband, Ron) Morley of Columbus and Brett Bringardner of Marietta, O.; her grandchildren, Matthew and Amy Morley, and Max Bringardner, all of Columbus; and her sister, Joyce Sexton of Stow, O.A memorial service celebrating Phyllis’ life will be held in the Geib Funeral Center at Dover on Sunday, February 22, 2009 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Pastor LuAnn Youngman will officiate the service along with Phyllis’ grandson, Matthew. Cremation will follow the service through the care of the Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory at Dover.Phyllis’ family requests memorial contributions in her memory be directed to Cats N’ Us, 829 Union Ave., Dover, O. 44622.
