Phyllis Alice Lydia Jennings Sandy, age 97, of Stapleford, Nottingham, England, and a resident of Port Washington, died peacefully Thursday, June 17, 2004, in Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown. Born in London, England September 2, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Alice Gavelle Jennings. Phyllis spent her life as a homemaker. She delighted in her sixty-four year marriage to her husband, Charles Sandy, who preceded her in death in 1995. Together they raised a daughter, Doreen (Leonard) Rinehart of Port Washington. She’ll be sadly missed by a granddaughter, Terri (Steve) Miller of Port Washington; grandson Andrew (Becky) Rinehart of Pleasant City, OH; a great-granddaughter Tonya Sanders; great-grandsons Phillip Mozena and Andrew Rinehart Jr.; two step-great-grandchildren Lisa and Sheana; a great-great granddaughter Zoe Sanders; and two step-great-great grandchildren, Alexia and Braden. Many friends, on both sides of the water, as well as caregivers at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown, will miss her kindness, warmth, and friendship.In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sandy is preceded in death by an infant son, David; a sister Marjorie, and brother, Edward.Friends and family will gather for a private funeral service Sunday afternoon in the Chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory of New Philadelphia. Local cremation will follow the ceremony. Then, Mrs. Sandy will return to England for private interment. The Sandy family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
