Phillip Eugene Lahm, 82, of Tuscarawas, died Monday, March 16, 2009 following a lengthy illness.A son of the late Ralph and Margaret (Guthrie) Lahm, Phillip was born September 5, 1926 at Uhrichsville, Ohio.Phillip was a 1944 graduate of Tuscarawas-Warwick High School and on January 25, 1945, he enlisted with the United States Navy. He honorably served his country during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Adams and was awarded the Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal.On May 5, 1949, Phillip married the love of his life, the former Marian Maxine Simmons. Together, the couple reared a daughter, Patricia.He retired in 1985 from U.S. Chemical & Plastic at Gnadenhutten where served as Superintendent. Phillip also served as the former Marshall, Fire Chief and Mayor of the Village of Tuscarawas many years ago. He also served six years as a Warwick Township Trustee.Phillip was a member of the Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post 7943 and the Uhrichsville Elks Lodge 424. He was also a notable hunter and fisherman and he participated in many sporting events throughout the county.He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Marian Lahm; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Dana Moore of Tuscarawas; two granddaughters, Rachelle (Tom) Willis of Bolivar and Lindsay (Kevin) Herron of Dover; a great granddaughter, Kennedy Willis of Bolivar and a brother, Ralph (Barb) Lahm Jr. of Tuscarawas.Phillip was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Lahm.In keeping with Phillips wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and he will be laid to rest in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.Contributions may be made in Phillip’s memory to St. James Lutheran Church, P.O.
