Phillip A. Sankar

Phillip A. Sankar, 46, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at Union Hospital, Dover, following a battle with brain cancer.Phil was born March 12, 1956, in Michigan. He was a 1974 graduate of Dover High School, and a 1977 graduate of Ohio State University Agricultural and Technical Institute with a degree in Landscape Design and Architecture. Phil worked as owner and operator of Phil Sankar Landscaping for 27 years. He was a member of the YMCA for 27 years, and a member of the First Christian Church of New Philadelphia. Phil was a diving coach for the YMCA for 10 years, and he volunteered as a softball, baseball, football and basketball coach for youth leagues. Phil also cherished the time he spent with his family.Surviving is his wife of 25 years, Deb Sankar, of the home, whom he married on March 12, 1977; a daughter, Jessica and a son, Luke, both of the home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 23, 2002, at 1:30 PM, at the First Christian Church of New Philadelphia, with Rev. Jim Borton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the Cleveland Clinic, Brain Tumor Clinic.
