Pepita M. Hixson

Pepita M. Hixson, 85, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 in Community Hospice House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Joseph and Lea (Burton) Gonzalez, Petie, as she was known to family and friends, was born June 17, 1936 at Wilmington, Delaware.

Following her high school graduation, she met her future husband, James Hixson, and the couple relocated to Ohio.

Petie was a beautician for many years and later, along with James, she owned a ceramics shop where she taught ceramics classes.

Following James’ retirement, they moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona where she resided until his passing in 2013.

She is survived by her sons, Douglas (Jan) Hixson, Kenny (Kim) Hixson and Randy Hixson; a daughter, Lisa Hixson; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and three sisters.

Petie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a great-granddaughter, Avaya Faith.

In keeping with Petie’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services and cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
