Pauline V. Dinger, 92, of Marietta, O. and a longtime resident of New Philadelphia, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 12, 2013, following a period of declining health.

Born in Canton, O. on October 10, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Carl J. and Erma M. (Mathias) Stephan.

Polly was a 1938 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and worked throughout her life as a sales girl, wife of a sailor during WWII, as owner of Dinger’s Market, and a Mayor’s wife but will be best remembered for her professional career working for the City of New Philadelphia in the health department as the office manager and registrar.

On March 1, 1942, Pauline married her loving husband, the late Lloyd F. Dinger, who preceded her in death on July 17, 1988. Together, they reared two children, Kathy and Jim, and enjoyed a variety of activities.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia. Polly also enjoyed her membership in the New Philadelphia Chapter 222 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a Past Worthy Matron and Past Grand Representative. She also devoted a great deal of time to the 4-H Club as an advisor.

Polly will be deeply missed by her children, Kathy (Roger) Bartunek of Marietta and Jim (Suzette) Dinger of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Patience, Lt. Jacob (Catlin) and Abram(Allison) Bartunek and Cody(fiancé Katie Dummermuth) and Jeremy Dinger; her sisters, Carol (Jim) Watson and Glenda Prillwitz, her brothers, Donald Stephan, Dean (Sue) Stephan and Steven Stephan, all of New Philadelphia; and two great-grandchildren, Eli and Loralei Bartunek.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday January 16, 2013 from 1 to 2 P.M. A service celebrating her life will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 2 with the Rev. Linda Steelman and the Rev. Ruth Roth officiating. Burial alongside her husband will follow the service in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.

Friends are invited to the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, where a meal will be shared.

The family thanks Hospice of Marietta and Rev Linda Steelman and especially her Heartland family who have been an important part of her life in Marietta.
