Pauline Tylka

PAULINE TYLKA, 76, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, October 5, 2003 at University Hospital in Cleveland. Pauline was born May 21, 1927 in New Philadelphia, a daughter of the late William J. and Norma A. (Kolp) Martin. In 1945 she graduated from New Philadelphia High School. Pauline married Vincent J. Tylka, Jr. at Sacred Heart Church on May 14, 1949. The couple shared nearly 29 years of marriage until his death on February 18, 1978. Pauline worked at Union Hospital for many years, retiring in the early 1980’s. A member of Sacred Heart Church, Pauline also volunteered her time with the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association. For many years she was also a voting precinct volunteer. Pauline found her greatest joy spending time with her grandson, Brandon. She attended his sporting and academic activities and always was a source of encouragement. Pauline truly enjoyed taking care of her family and her home.Surviving are her daughter Becky Tylka and grandson Brandon A. Tylka; three sisters, Edna M. Lamonica and Jean Avon, of New Philadelphia and Mildred Frank of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Margaret (Walter) Galbraith, Martha (Chuck) Kucyk and Theresa Cihon, all of Dover; and several very special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, a sister, Mary Margaret Finneran, and a brother, Richard Martin, preceded her in death.Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home with a Christian Wake service at 8:30 PM. The funeral mass will be Thursday, October 9, 2003 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Fr. William L. Arnold as celebrant. Burial alongside her husband Vince will follow at Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia.
