Pauline M. Edwards, age 88, of Port Washington, and formerly of Toad Hollow in Rush Township, passed away peacefully late Wednesday afternoon, November 17, 2010, in Riverside Manor at Newcomerstown, following a period of declining health. Born at Dennison, June 29, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Mary Fortea Zucco. On November 10, 1944, Pauline married Earl W. Edwards. Together they enjoyed life in the country with Earl farming, and Pauline homemaking. She’ll be remembered as an excellent cook, baker, and caregiver. She enjoyed playing games with her children and grandchildren, especially bingo. Pauline was the matriarch of her family, and took joy in tending to her daughters and grandchildren.Pauline leaves behind a family of three daughters; Violet (Francis) Krantz of Lancaster, O., Joyce (Bruce) Hibinger of Port Washington, and Pearl (John) Hanner of Gnadenhutten.She’ll be sadly missed by her seven grandchildren; Kenney (companion Jennifer Rochester-Parrish)Hibinger of New Philadelphia, Maria (Matthew) McBride of Pataskala, O., Melissa (Gary) Stahl of Gnadenhutten, Stephanie (Tommy) Johnson of New Philadelphia, Tiffany (Michael) Lawrence of McKinney, Texas, Michael (Tiffany) Krantz of Junction City, O., and Paul (Lindsay) Hanner of San Diego, California. Five step-grandchildren; Linda Thompson, Jeanette (George) Jones, and Eric Edwards all of Uhrichsville, Brian (Anne) Hanner of Dover, and Stephanie Hanner of Delaware, O., also survive. Eight great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Memphis, Faith, Morgan, Haley, Ty, Traye, Samantha, as well as numerous step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Earl W. Edwards on August 8, 1997, as well as an infant daughter, Paulette, a step-son, Lynn Edwards, five brothers; John, Jimmy, Joe and Harold Carpenter and Peter Zucco, and an infant twin sister, Patricia Zucco. Friends are invited to call Sunday, November 21, from 2-5PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.The Rev. Hugh B. Berry will lead Pauline’s funeral service Monday morning at 10:30 in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow, alongside her husband, in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. Following the committal service, family and friends will gather for a reception in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home. Those unable to attend are invited to share memories and condolences with the family by visiting the funeral home’s website. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
