Pauline Holmes-Carnahan, age 81, of Dunedin, Florida and formerly of Dover, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 in Meese Dunedin Hospital at Dunedin following a lengthy illness.Born in Roswell, Ohio on June 26, 1926, Pauline was a daughter of the late Harold R. and Carrie Holmes. She was a 1944 graduate of Roswell High School. Additionally, Pauline was a volunteer of the Dennison Depot’s Salvation Army Canteen during World War II and passed food and supplies to servicemen as they traveled through Dennison, Ohio.Pauline was a resident of Dover for over 30 years, and following graduation from the National Beauty College at Canton and passing her State Board Examinations, she owned and operated Pauline’s Beauty Shop on East Front Street at Dover for many years. She was a volunteer for Mobile Meals of Tuscarawas County and was formerly a member of The First United Methodist Church of Dover, where she taught Sunday school. As a young girl, Pauline played the violin and throughout the remainder of her life was a passionate music lover. Pauline was a member of the Palm Harbor United Methodist Church and formerly volunteered for Florida Healthcare at Daytona Beach.She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Carnahan-Roach of Dunedin, Florida; a son, Michael (Connie Dessecker) Carnahan , of Raleigh, North Carolina; a sister, Eileen Brokaw, of Scottsdale, Arizona; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Carnahan-Cook of Columbia, SC and Heather Carnahan of Raleigh, NC.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 49 years, Charles E. Carnahan, and a brother, Russell E. Holmes.The family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 one hour prior to services from 10:00 â?? 11:00 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Mr. Bartley Cook will lead an 11:00 AM service in the funeral home’s chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.Those unable to attend are invited to send the family personal condolences by signing the online guest registry located on the funeral home’s website.The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Pauline’s memory to Mobile Meals, C/O Union Hospital, 659 Boulevard, Dover, Ohio 44622.
