Paul W. Mathias

Paul W. Mathias, 73, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, October 7, 2002 at Union Hospital in Dover following an extended illness.Born in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Samuel O. and Lena Carrick Mathias. Paul was a construction worker with the former Watson Brothers Construction in New Philadelphia and an avid fisherman.Surviving is his wife, the former Alta Jean Smith whom he married October 10, 1953; a daughter Betty Jean Roth and a granddaughter, Shayna Roth, all of the residence. Two sisters and three brothers are deceased.In keeping with his wishes, his body is to be cremated and a private family burial will be held at a later date. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
