Paul F. Kuhn, 83, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in his home on May 12, 2015 following a period of declining health.
Born in Port Washington on April 7, 1932 on his beloved family farm, he was the son of the late Paul Howard and Wilma Pearl (Spring) Kuhn.
After graduating Gnadenhutten High School in 1950, Paul continued his formal education at Kent State University and then obtained his master’s degree in administration at San Francisco State University.
Paul married his lifelong friend and companion, the former Jean Hoffman in 1958 in Huron, Ohio. Together, they walked hand-in-hand through all of life’s joys, sorrows, celebrations, and challenges, never waivering in their love and devotion. Together, they worshipped at Faith Christian Church in New Philadelphia.
Paul was a man of passion, strength, and commitment. He began his professional career as a school teacher in the Strasburg School District. He then served as a principal and spent the majority of his 30 years in education as a Superintendent. He ultimately retired from the Middletown City School district.
In retirement, Paul hung up his suit and put on his farming clothes. He spent much of his time on his family farm, tending to the crops, animals, and land. When he was on the farm, he found peace and serenity. Paul also enjoyed the privilege of being a grandfather, supporting his grandchildren in all of their endeavors.
Paul leaves behind his wife, Jean of New Philadelphia; his daughters, Celeste (Jim) Honigford of Sugarcreek, Michele (Erick) Warren of Columbus, and Lisa (Chuck) Carnohan of the state of Washington; his grandchildren, Lauren, Paul, Clayton, and Joel Honigford, and Lucas and Shane Carnohan.
A private graveside service was held at Fry’s Valley Cemetery in Port Washington.
Memorial contributions in Paul’s memory may be directed to Community Hospice of Tuscarawas Valley, 716 Commercial Ave SW, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663, in appreciation for their exemplary care to Paul and his family.
