Patrick E. Adams, age 81, of New Philadelphia, passed away early Saturday afternoon in Akron City Hospital following complications from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.Born at Dover, Ohio on February 17, 1929, he was a son of the late Paul and Mary Mehok Adams. Best known as “Pat” by his family and friends, he was a 1947 graduate of Dover’s St. Joseph High School. He’ll be remembered as a dedicated co-worker by his colleagues at Gradall. Pat retired in 1991 following a 34 year career with the company. Known by many as a Jack of All Trades, Pat enjoyed working around his home, tending to his yard and maintaining his cars. Pat and his wife, Donna Lee, also had a passion for ball room dancing.He was a member of Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. He was also a member of the VFW Post #1445 and the B.P.O. Elks #510, all of New Philadelphia.Being the loving father and husband that he was, Pat along with his late wife, the former Donna Lee Errington Adams, reared a family that includes two sons Mark, (wife, Cherie) of Pittsburgh and Brian, (wife Sue) of Sommerdale. He’ll be sadly missed by his grandchildren; Jennifer, (Scott) Lara of Pensacola, Florida, Angela (Doug) Barkes, Emily (Bryce) Chalfont and Sarah Adams all of Pittsburgh, Heather (Key Lindon) Adams of Port Washington, Christien Adams of Somerdale and Renee (Jim) Frederick of New Jersey.Seven great-grandchildren; Rachel, Abigail, Isabel, Aava, Ashlyn, Carlie, and Kylie also survive. A sister, Dorothy Rothacher of Dover, and brothers James B. Adams of Canton, and John C. (Mary Ann) Adams of Dover as well as numerous nieces and nephews complete the family. In addition to his wife and parents, Patrick is preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Binsack, brother Robert Adams, and an infant brother Paul Adams. Friends are invited to call Monday (TODAY) from 5-8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Christian Wake services will commence at 7:45 and the Elks will gather for a Lodge of Sorrow following.Father Jimmy Hatfield will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday morning at 10:30 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, New Philadelphia.A luncheon reception will follow in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home at New Philadelphia at the conclusion of the committal service.
