Patricia Ann Steffen

Patricia Ann Steffen, 82, of Newcomerstown, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at Dover.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, Patricia's journey through life was marked by her unwavering love for family and her exceptional ability to bring laughter into the hearts of those around her.

She had retired from the former Lincoln Manufacturing in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she worked as a security guard, Patricia exemplified dedication and hard work throughout her career. Yet, her true joy came from the moments spent with her beloved family. She treasured every opportunity to create lasting memories, whether it was hosting family gatherings or simply sharing an evening at home.

Known for her sense of humor, Patricia had a remarkable ability to light up a room. Her warmth and playful spirit made her a beloved figure in the lives of many.

An avid reader with an insatiable curiosity, Patricia found joy and inspiration in countless books. From captivating romance novels to the narratives of history, she embraced everything that she would read with enthusiasm. Alongside her passion for reading, she found great joy in gardening, crafting, and anything that sparked her curiosity.

Patricia is survived by her three children, Pati (Joe) McDowell of Chesnee, South Carolina, Dawn Opphile of Newcomerstown and Stephen Zehnder and his companion Nichole Conley of Sandusky; eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; her brother, Robert (Alma) Wilkserson; her favorite feline companion, Scooter and many special “adopted” children. She was always someone’s “extra mom”.

In addition to her parents, Patricia is now reunited with her sister and best friend, Delores “Jean” Nicely; her husband, Joseph A. Steffen; her daughter, Pamela Zehnder; a granddaughter, Heather Zehnder; her brother, John Wilkerson, Jr. and her special friend of 45 years, Kay Goodwin.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation care is to be provided by the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at a later date.
