Patricia Sherry Slimack

Patricia Sherry Slimack of Kankakee, Illinois passed away on November 27, 2012 at the age of 64. She was surrounded by her devoted, loving family and close circle of friends and was in the care of Hospice.

Patti was born on July 10, 1948, and spent her childhood in New Philadelphia, Ohio. She graduated from Cook County School of Nursing where she began her career as a cardiac intensive care nurse. Her adventurous spirit and love of travel led her to many amazing places where she made wonderful, lifelong friends. She was known for her generosity, compassion, loyalty and devotion to family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Nicholas M. Slimack of Kankakee, three children, Dr. Michael Slimack of Chicago, Dr. Nicholas (Christina) Slimack of Los Angeles, and Susan (Ryan Laurenti) Slimack of Chicago. She is also survived by her sister, Sherry Johnson of New Philadelphia, Ohio and brother, Ernie Harris of New Philadelphia, Ohio. She had two granddaughters, Charlotte and Violet, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Maria Candida and Homer Harris.

The family will greet friends during a memorial visitation on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Fr. Jeff Coning will lead a memorial service celebrating Patti’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 1:30 PM. Inurnment will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
