Patricia Rieger

June 20, 1929 — February 7, 2017

Patricia Eileen Rieger, 87, of Atwood Lake, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in the Inn at Northwood Village at Dover following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Robert William and Mary Martha (Willis) Bland, Patricia was born June 20, 1929 at New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Patricia graduated from Mineral City High School in 1947.  Then on September 3, 1947, Patricia married Anson Jack Rieger and they raised four sons, Tim, Terry, Douglas and Dennis.  The couple shared 68 years of marriage prior to Jack’s passing on December 14, 2015.

During her younger years, Patricia worked at Alex’s Pizza at New Philadelphia and also as a supervisor at the former K-Mart Store at New Philadelphia.  She enjoyed sewing and crocheting as well as baking for her family and friends.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family at her home on the lake.

She is survived by her sons, Tim Rieger and Terry (Jackie) Rieger of New Philadelphia, Douglas Rieger of Victorville, California and Dennis (Suzie) Rieger of Mineral City; her grandchildren, Ashley Rieger of Portland, Oregon, Andrew Rieger of Oakland, California, Tera (Brian) Myers and Ryan (Jamie) Rieger both of New Philadelphia and Zachary Rieger of Collinsville, Oklahoma; her great grandchildren, Sophia Myers and Preston, Parker and Peyton Rieger

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, a daughter-in-law, Sherry Rieger, a sister, Martha Bair and a brother, Donald Bland.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.  A funeral service celebrating Patricia’s life will be held on Friday, February 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Flood officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.  A luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia following the committal service.
