Patricia E. Pompey, age 72, of New Philadelphia, died peacefully in her home, with her family by her side on Sunday, August 17, 2014, following a period of declining health.

Born at Byesville, Ohio on December 21, 1941, Patty was a daughter of the late John and Marjorie (Powell) Rogers.

She was a 1959 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and was employed as a cook at her family’s former business, Rogers Family Restaurant. She also worked for Buckeye Career Center as a cook and for a number of years, worked for the Tuscarawas Schools Teacher’s Credit Union.

Patty was an active member of Holy Trinity Church at Bolivar and in her younger years was active with the New Philadelphia Quaker Ladies and the New Philadelphia VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Patty enjoyed league bowling at both Kinser and Boulevard Lanes as she bowled in mixed couples and women’s leagues.

In her later years, Patty found great joy in cooking for her family, babysitting her grandchildren and being surrounded by her entire family.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Leonard “Butch” Pompey, whom she married in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on June 4, 1966; her children, Charles (Kelly) Pompey of Stow, Tony (Jennifer) Pompey of Tuscarawas and Margie (Lee) Strauss of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Olivia, Lucas, Kaitlin, Evie and Lena, and a great-grandson, Liam.

Completing the family are siblings, Carole Patrick, John “Mike” Rogers, a sister-in-law, Bonnie Rogers-Petrullo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Rogers; a brother-in-law, Gene Patrick, and a sister-in-law, Judy Rogers.

The family will greet guests on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Father Jeff Coning will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following services, all are invited to join the family for food and fellowship in the Hospitality Room of the Dover Geib Center.
